Fun family things to do in Torquay during February half term

Hey everyone, I must admit that it has been rather quiet on this little corner of the internet for the past couple of months, but as my little niece and nephews reminded me (Keri) the other day, the middle of February means the dreaded half term to anyone who's not in education/has family members in education so I thought it would be fun to compile a list of fun things for all the family.

Ok so let's be honest February is not the warmest of months here in England and you're slightly more limited to activities than in June or July, but there are still a good range of things for families right here in the Bay during the half term week.

Here's just a few fun things for families to get up to in Torquay and it's surrounding areas: Torquay's Dinosaur World

Are there any budding dinosaur fans in your house? Torquay's Dinosaur World has a rather fabulous February Fossil Festival running from Saturday 10th February to Sunday 18th February 2018. There are lots of excavation sites to uncover and a variety of fossils to discover, as well as opportunities to hang out with dinosaurs - including getting to sit on baby Triceratop or a full-size Deinonychus, or you can even, if you're brave enough, put your head inside the jaw of fossilised T-Rex skull.

There are even opportunities to win a Dinosaur Expert Certificate to show all your friends at school your expertise in all things dinosaur, as well as bagging yourself a bag of free fossils with the special Fossil Festival Quiz.

This event runs from February10th to February 18th from 11am until 5pm. The last entry is 3pm.

Crealy

I couldn't write a list of fun family things to do in this part of the world without including Crealy Adventure Park & Resort, also tickets costing just £10 per person when booked in advance online is an absolute steal.

A day out to Crealy is a guaranteed fun and adventurous day out for all the family, regardless of age. Experience all the thrills of the rides and attractions (excluding the water rides), hang out with all the friendly animals and explore all the inside play areas, whatever the weather, Crealy is the place to be.

Also for the record, Crealy currently has seven days-for-the-price-of-one offer on at the moment, which means that if you validate your ticket during the day of your first visit you can return for the next six consecutive days absolutely free (T&Cs apply), so the fun can continue. TLH Leisure Resort

There's always something going on over at the TLH Leisure Resort in the middle of Torquay. Aztec Leisure, which is a part of the complex offers a wide range of fun activities for all the family, from arcade games, ten-pin bowling, a soft play area and much more. The Aztec Bistro is a great place for family meals, especially on the two-for-one nights on Wednesday and Thursdays. My favourite though has always been their Dip 'n' Dine offer. For £12, you can enjoy a leisurely swim in their 25 metre pool, or in the Jacuzzi, sauna or steam room, followed by food at the Aztec Bistro restaurant. Bargain and makes you feel super healthy afterwards too, win-win. Click on the pool to find out more.

Living Coasts

Living Coasts in Torquay, home to lots of cuddly penguins, otters, octopus and seals, is definitely a fun-filled day out for all the family. Not only can you see all the animals, but there are lots of interesting and informative activities, as well as interactive games to play. Half term is the launch for Living Coast's year of Nearby Nature, which guarantees to be a week full of fun, with special talks and a native species trail.

Paignton Zoo

Paignton Zoo has always been a favourite day out for me, from when I was a little kid, right through to now in my 20s. There's always lots of fun and interesting things going on throughout the day, including the daily animal talks, where there are opportunities to learn lots of interesting facts about animals and their way of life. You can also watch some of the animals being fed, or speak to the friendly expert keepers wondering around. Regardless of age or background, if you're an animal person like me, you'll love Paignton Zoo. Click on the Zoo image to find out more.

National Marine Aquarium,

Plymouth Aquarium is another favourite day out of mine. There's always lots going on in this fun, underwater world, home to a variety of colourful and interesting marine life. With a variety of different shaped tanks, lots to see and plenty of fun interactions to get involved with, I can promise you that the whole family will be entertained. Until next time, and enjoy your half term week.
